You Don't Fear God

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom."

I will admit…
I got comfortable with God.

And at first it didn’t feel like a problem.

My faith was still there. I was still praying all the time.
I still believed all the right things.

But slowly, God stopped feeling as close..

To the point where I was sinning more and more.
I realized this.
I was taking advantage of God’s forgiveness.
What happened then was, God stopped feeling close at all.

That was a dangerous place to live.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

Proverbs 9:10

When Fear Starts To Make Sense

The fear of God isn’t panic. It’s awareness.
It’s the moment you realize the God who forgives you
is the same God that can crush you.

The moment sin stops feeling casual.
The moment your excuses stop working.
You start taking action steps to bear fruit.
The fruit in following Jesus.

Fear wakes you up to reality.
Grace isn’t permission to stay the same.
It’s his mercy.

Scripture says,

“God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Galatians 6:7

Fear brings weight back to faith.
It restores clarity.

That clarity helped me stop sinning. This caused me to break
those breakable sins, which I thought I was gonna battle forever.

But fear isn’t meant to be where you stay.

When Fear Becomes Love

Fear gets your attention but it is love that keeps you locked in.

At first it starts as “I don’t want to mess this up.”
Then it becomes this “I don’t want any distance from God.”

That’s not fear.
That’s growth.

Jesus said,

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

John 14:15

Obedience stops being about avoiding consequences
and starts being about protecting the relationship.
(Keeping his commandments)

You don’t obey because you’re scared of God.
You obey because you finally understand who He is.

Fear shows you God is holy.
Love reminds you He’s close.

Choosing Him Over Comfort

Comfort is where we stop taking God seriously.
When God feels comfortable, your sin starts to feel normal.

When your obedience feels optional, your discipline slips away.
That’s when faith loses its edge.

Jesus modeled the opposite posture:

“Not my will, but Yours be done.”

Matthew 26:39

Choosing God over comfort doesn’t look “crazy”
It looks consistent.

Consistent in your everyday life!

Prayer when you could be relaxing.
Repentance instead of those excuses.
Surrender instead of constant control.

Scripture promises this:

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.”

Psalm 34:7

Obedience brings protection.

Alignment brings peace.
