Stop Calling Yourself Productive
What the bible actually says about productivity and rest
9 out of 10 people who feel “burned out” aren’t lazy.
They’re just busy…
And being busy has become the most accepted form of disobedience.
That’s why I’ve been thinking a lot about productivity lately.
What is true productivity?
Not hustle culture.
Not burnout disguised as discipline.
Biblical productivity.
Because the world tells us:
Do more.
Move faster.
Never slow down.
But Scripture tells a very different story.
One where productivity starts with faith.
And rest is not weakness, but wisdom.

What Biblical Productivity Actually Looks Like
Biblical productivity doesn’t start with output.
It starts with alignment.
Not asking yourself, “How much am I doing?”
But asking, “Am I doing what God actually asked me to do?”
Jesus said it simply:
“The one who is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.”
That verse reshaped how I think about productivity.
Because faithfulness isn’t about stacking tasks.
It’s about obedience.
You can be doing a lot and still be off.
And you can be doing something small that matters more than you realize.
Biblical productivity looks like:
Choosing obedience over impressing people
Saying yes to the right things instead of everything
Being faithful in the unseen, not chasing visible wins
When faith leads, purpose gets clear.
When purpose is clear, action actually makes sense.
Faith fuels purpose.
Purpose drives action.
When Busy Still Misses the Mark
Here’s the tension most of us live in.
You can be busy
and still be misaligned.
God already planned the work He wants you to walk in.
“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand.”
That means not everything that fills your time is an assignment.
I’ve had seasons where I felt drained but couldn’t explain why.
I wasn’t doing anything “wrong.”
I was just constantly busy with things that didn’t matter.
Endless doom scrolling.
Filling silence with noise.
Staying occupied instead of present with God.
Distractions will exhaust you just as much as disobedience.

Why Rest Is Actually Biblical
Rest isn’t God telling you to “check out”
Watching TV, Doom Scrolling, Pointless things..
It’s God teaching you to trust.
God didn’t suggest for us to rest.
He commanded it.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
Rest is saying, “God, my world doesn’t fall apart when I rest.”
A lot of us keep pushing because we’re afraid to slow down.
Afraid that if we stop, we’ll fall behind.
Afraid we’ll lose momentum.
But real rest isn’t laziness.
It’s releasing control.
What Biblical Rest Actually Looks Like
Biblical rest isn’t zoning out.
It’s leaning in.
Jesus would step away from crowds and responsibilities to be alone with God.
“Jesus went away to a secluded place and prayed.”
Rest with God looks like:
Choosing prayer over constant noise
Opening Scripture instead of defaulting to your phone
Sitting quietly with God without rushing the moment
Jesus said,
“Come to Me… and I will give you rest.”
Rest doesn’t make you passive.
It makes you clear.
And clarity literally changes how you move.
The Rhythm God Designed
This is the rhythm God intended for us:
Faith fuels purpose.
Purpose drives action.
Action requires rest.
Rest renews faith.
“Those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength.”
Because apart from Him, we lose direction.
But with Him, even our rest becomes productive.
I heard from someone… a friend of mine that
“Prayer is the most productive thing you can do.”
SO BE PRODUCTIVE!
